A seamless blending of bass strings in music of East and West

The HKCO’s successful invention of the gehu bass string family as counterparts to the Western cello, bass and double bass has opened up a whole new soundscape for the Chinese orchestral voice. Their acoustic gamut was demonstrated in the ‘Fusion’ concert series in 2014 (which featured the gehu only) and in 2015 (which featured the gehu and bass gehu) and indicated the tonal possibilities of the gehu ensemble. This year, the gehu family returns by popular demand in ‘Fusion III- Gehu and Bass Gehu Recital’.  And instead of just bowing, the ensemble sounds will be enriched by the plucked-strings and percussion.
