Qian Kun

Qian Kun is a young harp and konghou virtuoso, and the first holder of a Bachelor of Letters degree in the specialism of konghou in China. She is currently a full-time teacher of the harp and the konghou at the Shenzhen Arts School. She graduated from the Shenyang Conservatory of Music and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. She trained in the two instruments under the famous harpist and teacher of konghou in China, Le Pingqiu. She has also been, for a long time, coached in harp techniques under Zhang Xiaojie at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and the harp virtuoso, Yu Dan.

Qian represented China in the 9th World Harp Congress in Ireland, with a concert dedicated to the konghou. It was a resounding success, which led to an invitation from the BBC to make a recording of konghou music, and from Radio Berlin International to conduct an exclusive interview.

In 2005, she published an article, On the Historical and Epochal Importance of the Konghou, in the September issue of Music Life and won critical acclaim. Between 2007 and 2015, she has given several recitals and was invited to perform solo in Hong Kong.
